Abstract :
Plastic waste often becomes waste and has the potential to damage the
environment because of its difficult to decompose. Even though the plastic has
potential to be used, one of them is a substitute for cement in making paving
block. The purpose of this study was to determine the diffenrences in compressive
and bending strength produced by paving block with PET plastic as a substitute
for cement with ordinary paving blocks. The specimen is made by using the
volume ratio between PET plastic and river sand 30%:70%, 40%:60%, 50%:50%,
The compressive strength test used (ASTM C 39/C 39M-04) and the bending test
(ASTM C 78-02). From the test result,it was found that the 50%:50% variation
had the best compressive and bending strength: 3.2554 Mpa and 1.62 Mpa.
