Abstract :
The use of an effective and efficient engines in the operation of the air
transport mode is the beginning of improving the management quality of an airline.
The development of turbofan engines will be optimized with design and better
efficiency in the future, so the analysis of parametric cycle is needed. Parametric
cycle analysis to know bypass ratio effects on GE-90 engine?s performance at
cruising condition can be done by calculating using parametric of real engine
theoretically method also using Parametric Cycle Analysis (PARA) software by
varying the bypass ratio and fixed parameters design in addition to engine
parameters and ambient parameters by considering losses factor from each
component on turbofan engine.
Varying parameter value of bypass ratio using PARA software showed the
specific thrust and TSFC decrease. Increasing bypass ratio effects on decreased
TSFC to point 8,7 of bypass ratio. The specific thrust decreased effects on bypass
ratio increased TSFC after bypass ratio reach optimum point at 8,7. The optimum
bypass ratio got specific thrust value for 116,1 N(kg/s), thrust specific fuel
consumption for 17,02 (mg/s)/N, propulsive efficiency for 81,079 %, thermal
efficiency for 42,685 %, and overall efficiency for 34,609 %. Increasing bypass
ratio to optimum condition decreased the specific thrust and TSFC according to
turbofan engine designed for commercial aircraft to gain engine performances with
lower fuel consumption on higher overall efficiency resulted on positive effect when
cruising to reduce operational cost and provided the lower jet velocity on lower
noise along with contribution of low fuel consumption to reduces exhaust gas
emissions.
