Abstract :
At the beginning of operation, a main rotor blade is certainly in the best condition. When it gets older, the main rotor blade condition will decrease, because of the presence of bent, material fatigue, and human error during operation. Based on the background, it is necessary to identify the level of reliability, failure mode, and the causes of an unscheduled removal of main rotor blade on the Bell 412 helicopter using the reliability centered maintenance method. The research was conducted based on the age of components and historical data of component operation failure of main rotor blade on Bell 412 helicopter during 27 years. Based on the data of the causes of the Bell 412 helicopter uncorrect main rotor blade, the uncorrect main rotor blade that occured on the components of the Bell 412 helicopter are high frequent missions and anomaly products. In the failure mode analysis process using the FMECA method, the highest RPN (Risk Priority Number) value was 60 which is included in the low risk category with the potential failure mode is the bent and material fatigue on the main rotor blade. Based on the analysis of the calculation of the level of reliability employing the normal distribution method and using Microsoft Excel, the reliability value (R) of all serial numbers of the Bell 412 helicopter main rotor blades was 99%, which indicates the reliability of the Bell 412 helicopter main rotor blade is very good. Therefore, the result of the maintenance policy recommendation is to continue the existing maintenance policy system at the Bell 412 Inspection Workshop Sub Shop off the Army Aviation Center by keeping on referencing the Bell 412 helicopter manual maintenance.
