Abstract :
ATR 72-500 is an aircraft used for flights with short routes. On the island of Sumatra many types of ATR 72-500 aircraft are used for inter-provincial flights. Sumatra Island itself has hilly and mountainous contours. When planes fly through this area, the aircraft can experience one engine inoperative, and the aircraft will experience a drift down. In this study carried out on the Lampung-Padang flight route. Calculation of drift down needs to be done to find out how much decrease occurs when the aircraft experiences one engine inoperative. Drift-down analysis is done by considering take-off weight, wind, fuel consumption, and water temperature. Based on the calculations and analysis carried out when the aircraft drift - down, the aircraft will slowly decrease in height to a certain distance, a certain time, and a certain weight and then the aircraft will maintain its altitude. The decrease with the largest vertical speed of 69.7 ft / min occurs when the aircraft weight in take-off weight (TOW) is 22,000 kg and drift down occurs at a distance of 36 NM from the origin airport. The lowest vertical speed occurs when TOW 20843 kg with a large vertical speed of 38,1 ft / min at 316 NM from the origin airport. On the Lampung-Padang route, the aircraft was declared safe to continue the flight to the destination airport when the aircraft experienced a single engine and drift down with 100% load at a distance after 196 NM from the departure airport. In the condition of 95% load, the aircraft will be safe at a distance after 136 NM. With an 90% load and with a small a distance of 36 NM
