Abstract :
JT8D engine is a turbofan engine that has 9 chambers with 1-state fan, 6-
stage LP, 7-stage axial flow compressor type. The turbofan engine is known to
have a bleed valve that functions to distribute bleed air where the bleed air is
directly related to the performance generated in the combustion chamber. Further
research needs to be done to find out how much influence the bleed valver has on
the engine's performance where the parameters that need to be known are the
value of the energy change and the value of the pressure loss factor.
The object of research analyzed includes the calculation of air flow in the
JT8D combustion chamber engine. In analyzing energy changes in the JT8D
combustion chamber engine using chemical reactions from the combustion
process and the calculation of Pressure Loss Factor (PLF) using JT8D cell test
engine data in 2014.
The results of the chemical reaction of the combustion process of fuel
(C6H14) with Oxygen (O2) obtained chemical reactions 2C6H14(l)+ 19O2(g) ? 12
CO2(g)+14H2O(l). In the calculation of energy changes in the combustion chamber,
the value in the whole reaction ?U0 is -7.385,6 kJ / mol. In the calculation of PLF
that has been done it can be seen that the PLF that occurs when bleed close is
greater than the PLF when bleed open is smaller where the value obtained when
bleed open is 3,678 × 10?3 or 0,003678 and when bleed close, a value of
4,06199 × 10?3
is obtained or 0,46199.
