Abstract :
Plastic at this time has been widely used as an alternative to various human equipment made of metal, glass and wood. It is because plastic has the following advantages, such as it has a smooth surface, easily formed, lightweight, not easily broken, rust resistant, resistant to corrosion, and has a high economic value. There are several parameters that determine the quality of the plastic mold in the vacuum forming process, one of which is the pressure used. This study was used to produce the best pressure formability of the GoTA Drone UAV canopy mold to compare surface roughness with the original canopy with composite materials. In the process, the method used was one of the simple thermoforming methods, namely vacuum formation. This study as a test material used plastic sheets with the type of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with levels of 36.5 cm x 28.5 cm with a thickness of 2 mm. For temperatures at a constant temperature of 120 ° C with a pressure that is varied into a pressure variation that is; -2cmHg, -4cmHg, - 6cmHg, and -8cmHg. The method used to determine the formability of printouts was to approve the area and the best measurement results carried out surface roughness testing. Based on the research conducted, the vacuum forming process was carried out with several rounds, namely: cutting PVC plastic in accordance with the size of the frame, providing a grid on PVC, heating PVC plastic with a temperature of 120 ° C, installing a vacuum pressure, vacuum process, and the process of removing material from the frame. From the research results obtained from the best value for the acquisition of plastics that is -2 cmHg with an average percentage of formability quality 97.444%.
