Abstract :
At this time PUNA is widely used by the military because it has many
benefits, one of the benefits of PUNA is to monitor a particular area or region. This
thesis will take PUNA aircraft objects, which had previously been discussed in the
STTA student thesis entitled "Preliminary Design of PUNA AD-01 Aircraft for the
Indonesian Border Monitoring Mission". So this thesis will discuss engine selection
based on the power needed, battery selection, propeller selection by thrust testing
using propulsion test equipment, propulsion system installation, and flight testing
to find out the results of the propulsion system that has been selected on PUNA AD?01 aircraft as well as calculations endurance and thrust value at the time of cruise.
In selection of the propulsion system, it is used analytical methods and
experiments. Determination of the engine is done by calculating the required engine
power and for the selection of propellers to make a replacement between the
propeller size 12x6 to 14x7 through thrust testing using propulsion testing to
determine the best thrust value. If the aircraft is airworthy, the mission of the PUNA
AD-01 aircraft as a surveillance aircraft has been successful. In addition, it is also
calculate the thrust PUNA AD-01 aircraft when sailing based on data from the
design.
The calculation results of the required power are 451 watts and the best
thrust test results are propeller size 14 x 7 resulting in 6,08N thrust at 10% throttle,
14,22N at 25% throttle, 22,83N at 50% throttle, 28,91N at 75% throttle, and 38,32N
at 100% throttle. The test results show that the flight successfully fly, endurance of
PUNA AD-01 is 38,8 minutes, and the thrust value during cruise is 23,73 N.
