Abstract :
Flight punctuality is one of performances that has always been a target at almost
all of the airlines, include Lion Air. One of the factors that cause delay flight departure
is unavailability of aircraft on a required schedule due to maintenance process is not
accomplished within time specified may cause the decreasing of aircraft fulfillment level
for flight operations (Aircraft Serviceability). It is affecting the scheduled flight
operations that have been planned and potentially lead to a flight delay.
Lean Six Sigma is one approach for process improvement that can be used to
analyze problems that occur in Lion Air aircraft maintenance process. This research
used the method and steps DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) of
Six. Some of the tools used are Tree Diagram to create a break down problems ranging
from the general to the particular to determine the focus of the problems (Project
Scoping), SIPOC (Supplier Input Process Output Customer) Diagram to see the general
work flow of the process and to identify CTQ (Critical to Quality), flow process map to
see the process in more detail and define areas that need improvement, fishbone
diagrams and Pareto diagrams are used to analyze the root cause problems.
This research found that the main issues that cause the decreasing of Aircraft
Serviceability and TAT (Turn Around Time) Performance are Unplanned Maintenance
and Extended TAT. Some root causes (X) and the most dominant causes (Big X) that
contributed to the problems are time for rectification and shortages material, so that the
basis of this analysis can be made to design the improvement plan and control the
accomplishment time quality of aircraft maintenance process in accordance with target
being expected.
