Abstract :
Propeller on aircraft is used to generate Thrust. Aeromodelling aircraft is
an aircraft model which is heavier than air with limited size. It is one of the
branches of aerospace sports under the harborage of Federation Aero Sport
Indonesia (FASI). The size of the Propeller in aeromodelling aircraft varies, for
example 8x7 as number 8 shows the diameter of the Propeller, while the number 7
shows the advanced mileage generated in one maximum rotation according to the
throttle called Pitch.
The study was carried out using an experimental method with a
comparison between a Propeller 3 blades modified 8x5, 8x6, 8x7, with 8x6
manufactured Propeller and 3 blades commonly used in aeromodelling aircraft.
Propeller 8x5, 8x6, 8x7 are modified Propellers made by modifying the Pitch
angle of the Propeller. This study aimed to identify the ratio of Thrust generated
by the modified Propeller. The tool used in conducting the testing was the "Thrust
Test Equipment".
The effect of modifying the Pitch Propeller angle of 3 blades 8x5, 8x6 and
8x7 showed that the 8x7 Pitch Propeller angle generated the largest Thrust with a
Thrust value of 1,77 N at 100% throttle. While the Thrust difference generated on
the 8x6 modification Propeller was 1,27 N smaller than the 8x6 manufactured
Propeller which generated 2,56 N Thrust, at 100% throttle.
