Abstract :
Brake lining is a vehicle component that is very important in supporting aspects of driving safety, brakes must be able to stop the vehicle as quickly as possible and provide the comfort of calcium carbonate content on eggshells meet the criteria as materials that have a melting point of 825°C and have good physical properties, such as having low porosity and fine particles while brass has a good heat conductor and is corrosion resistant so it is resistant to heat. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of variations in the composition of the addition of chicken eggshell powder 40%, 30% and 20%. The variations Brass powder were 20%, 30% and 40% with resin made equal to 40% the tests carried out on alternative brake pads include wear and hardness tests. The results of testing the composition of the composition that the most optimal is close to the standard indopart brake lining in a dry state that was in variation 3 with 40% chicken eggshell powder and 20% brass powder, with wear value of 0.0352 mm²/kg. While the composition that passed the indopart brake lining standard in wet conditions was in variation 1 with a composition of 20% chicken eggshell powder and 40% brass powder, with a value of 0.0396 mm²/kg, with a standard value of indopart brake lining wear of 0.0373 mm²/kg. In the near-standard hardness indopart brake lining was variation 1 with 20% chicken eggshell powder and 40% brass powder with a value of 176.44 kg/mm². With the standard value of indopart brake lining hardness as 186.95 kg/mm²
