Abstract :
Currently, the needs for electrical energy are increasing in line with human
growth and electrical equipment. The electrical energy needed by humans still
depends on fossil energy. One alternative energy that has a good potency is water
energy. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of blade angle variation
towards the wheel performance. This research is an experimental research on the
performance of waterwheels with 20°, 25°, and 30° curved blade. Then it observed
how much rotational speed, voltage and current strength produced and it further
analyzed to obtain power, torque and efficiency of the waterwheel. The load uses 5
and 10 watt led light. The results of the study found that the greater angle of blade on
the waterwheel greatly affects the power, torque and efficiency produced. The blade
with a curved angle of 30° has the most optimal power and efficiency than the angle
of 20° and 25°.
