Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to identify the highest bending strength and impact of polyester reinforced hemp fiber reinforced composites with changes in alkaline immersion concentration in the fibers 0%, 2.5% , 5%, 7.5%, 10% for 2 hours. After that, a macro photograph is taken of the sample that has the highest bending strength and impact to determine the composite failure. In this research, the materials used were polyester resin 108 and hemp fibers randomly arranged with a volume fraction of 15%. The composites were manufactured by the press mold method. The tests performed were bending tests using ASTM D 790-03 and test the impact of the charpy method using ASTM D 256- 00. The highest bending test result was obtained with an alkaline concentration of 2.5% at 61.781 MPa and the highest impact test is at a 0% alkali concentration of 0.0130 J / mm2 . Based on the observation of the macro structure, there were a type of fiber pull out and fiber break on the composite.
