Abstract :
The needs for electrical energy in Indonesia continues to increase. This needs of electrical energy today comes from non-renewable fossil energy. Fulfillment efforts began to be made by utilizing new and renewable energy sources. One such energy source is wind energy. This energy can be used to convert wind energy into rotational energy, one of which is the horizontal shaft motion of American windmill type multiblade. The research method used is literature research, interviews and experimental. The study was conducted by designing products and testing directly in the field to get real data to determine the nature of the product in each product variant. Tests were carried out at the beach with an average wind speed of 4 m/s and the variations of the blade number were 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 blade?s, while the variation of blade angle used were 10 °, 15 °, and 20 °. Based on research on the multiblade American windmills, it was found that the best efficiency value was obtained by windmills at 7 blades variant at an angle of 20° with a value of 52,1%. The maximum tip speed ratio value was found at 4 blade variant and 15° angle variant with a value of 4,6 and the maximum torque value was at 5 blade variant and 10° angle variant with a torque value of 2,625 Nm
