Abstract :
Contruction of materials requires special properties in each part,
although in the mechanical properties of the manufacturing process of the metal
have been predicted. Therefore, now many tests are carried out on sample of the
material.
The specimens used are aluminium series 1xxx and 3xx.x. Tensile testing
was carried out using a notch (U) with a noctch length (L)±5mm. Notches making
used a file and sandpaper. The fracture performance calculation method used the
ImageJ application.
The calculation results showed that the fracture value (W) of 1xxx
aluminum series(6.96 kJ/m
2
) was greater than that of 3xx.x aluminum series (2.30
kJ/m
2
). The value of the stress consentration factor (KN) of 1xxx (3,22) aluminum
series was greater than that of 3xx.x (3.15) aluminum series. Based on the
calculation of fracture (W) and stress concentration factor (KN) it could be
concluded that 1xxx aluminum series is more resilient than 3xx.x series
aluminium.
