Abstract :
Bordes plate or flower plate is a plate that has a wavy shaped
parallelogram on one surface to reduce the risk of slip accident. Because of its
bumpiness, roughness, weather resistances and low wear surface, this plate is
often used in building construction. Usually these bordes plate are widely used on
steel or iron floor and stair components, for decks, bus floors, car mats.
This research was conducted to identify the effects of heat input
variations on SMAW welding to tensile strength and hardness of bordes plate.
The research used heat input 1 (135.46 J/mm), heat input 2 (147.78 J/mm) and
heat input 3 (160.09 J/mm). The material used is bordes plate and the method
used in the welding process is SMAW welding.
The tensile test results showed the lowest tensile strength at heat input 1
is 320.69 MPa. The lowest VHN at heat input 1 is 175.31 kg/mm
2
and the highest
VHN at heat input 3 is 191.22 kg/mm
2
