Abstract :
The FAST X-4 Surveillance UAV is an aircraft designed
to fly at moderate speed and used for aerial photography,
land mapping, and can be used to monitor an area by air.
UAV surveillance uses an electric engine or is called brushless direct
current, namely a 3 phase motor that uses a propeller as a driver and
battery as a power source. On a UAV the range and endurance are
an important component because with range and endurance you can find out
maximum flying ability. Therefore, analysis and
calculations to find out.
The steps to go through before calculating range and endurance are:
determining aircraft dimensions, aircraft weight, then calculating speed and
battery consumption as a power source. After that, carry out a test flight for
obtain the range and endurance of UAV aircraft.
In this study the speed (v) of the aircraft is 12 m/s, the weight of the aircraft (W)
of 36.1 N, the initial charge (Q0) and the final charge (Q1) of the battery are equal to
2,640 mAh and 1,320 mAh. The aircraft produces a theoretical range
(R) of 7,212.86 m and R in field testing of 5000 m, and
produces a theoretical endurance (E) of 601.35 s and E during field tests
amounting to 383 s. Thus the theoretical results are greater than when tested in
field because during testing it experienced many obstacles such as changes
wind direction and speed. The FAST X-4 UAV surveillance aircraft is
an aircraft that can fly stably and well for similar aircraft because
It has moderate speed and is easy to control.
