Abstract :
Trailing arm is a suspension that is usually used on the rear landing gear
and produces a smoother landing for a better ride when sliding, this serves to
withstand the impact when landing and withstand the tension and vibration when
taxiing. In this research, the trailing arm is designed using finite element
analysis (FEA) based software using the autodesk inventor program to create a
model of a desirable trailing arm with different diameter variations. Then the
data were export in an extension to be compatible with ANSYS Static Structural
Software, which produces data in the form of displacement, von-mises stress and
diameter analysis on the trailling arm. To carry out these simulations, first the
material properties to be used must be defined, namely the stell alloys 4340
material because it has a high density on the landing gear of the Falcon 7X
Traling Arm.
From the simulation results, the diameter 60 mm had 8.1786 Mpa, 70 mm
the had 8.1412 MPa and 80 mm had 6.2242 MPa tension. Simulation of
deflection of 60 mm, 70 mm and 80 mm diameter variations using Static
Structural ANSYS Software showed that the trailing arm had the same deflection
results so that there is no difference. It can be concluded the greater the
diameter variation, the smaller the had simulation achieved.
