Abstract :
Altitude is one of the important information on flight instruments that provide
aircraft altitude data to ground or sea level. LRRA (Low range radio altimeter) is a type
of radio altimeter has a function to determine the height of the aircraft relative to the
ground surface (ground level) below. The designation of the system altitude value is
on the altimeter radio display unit. However, the radio altimeter display can at any time
experience abnormalities or errors such as the situation where the RA flag is displayed
on the display monitor when the altitude radio is operating. The sign means that the
altimeter's radio data is invalid, such an incident will make the reading unclear.
To solve the problem of RA flag show on the radio altimeter display unit, that
is by identifying, testing, and searching for the cause of the problem and troubleshoot.
From the BITE test (build in-test) it can be seen the cause of the problem that occurs is
the damage to the radio altimeter transceiver component. The first step in the
troubleshoot is to look at the FIM (fault isolation manual) guide, then the step taken is
removing the transceiver components from the E/E compartment to be carried out in
the maintenance phase of the workshop. After the component is declared serviceable,
the transceiver component is reassembled into the E/E compartment.
The last step of testing again with the BITE (build in-test) procedure on the
transceiver if the LCD transceiver shows "RADIO ALTIMETER TEST COMPLETE
NO FAILURES", then the problem is resolved and the component is in a serviceable
again.
