Abstract :
The power supply in generally using a linear system. In this linear system power supply
the required output power is not purely voltage because there is wasted in the form of heat so
that it can be said to have low efficiency. In addition there are problems with the amount of
current drawn from the power supply which can cause a decrease in the output voltage.
The problem of reducing the output voltage can be anticipated by making a stable voltage
regulation at 12-13.8 Volts so that no matter how much current is drawn from the power supply,
the output voltage will remain stable. Tests carried out on the resistive load in the form of a light
bulb from 25 - 150 Watt and a non-resistive load that is the Radio Frequency Amplifier.
The research results show that the efficiency of linear power supply has the greatest
efficiency at resistive loads that is equal to 50.70% at 9 amperes current output, and at non
resistive loads the greatest efficiency is at 40.34% at current 4, 2 amperes current output.
