Abstract :
Wind is an important resource in human life. One of them is used as a
parameter in predicting weather and climate in an area. The study of wind
parameters is also very important to know the potential of wind energy such as
wind speed and wind direction. This study aims to design a monitoring system for
wind speed and wind direction with wireless connection.
The wind speed measurement system uses an optocoupler sensor while the
wind direction uses a magnetic sensor, data transmission in the form of wind
speed and direction is carried out with a wireless connection. The design method
used is hardware design and software design. Hardware design includes
anemometer with optocoupler sensor, wind vane with magnetic sensor, and
wireless module nrf24l01 as data sender, while software design uses arduino
programming.
The result of this design is that the wind speed monitoring system can work
well if a calibration factor is added to each reading of the data, the average of
error obtained is 12%. Wind direction monitoring system can work well, the
sensor used is able to detect 8 cardinal directions. Data transmission with a
wireless connection has an error of 32% from a distance of 100 m to 450 m. The
results of monitoring in mountainous areas of turi village, ponjong, Gunung
Kidul obtained the highest wind speed of 5.0 m/s or 18 km/h with the direction of
the wind pointing to the north, while in Krakal Beach Gunung Kidul obtained the
highest wind speed results of 4.5 m/s or 16.2 km/h with the wind direction
pointing to the south.
