Abstract :
Composite is a material formed from a combination of two or more
materials. One of the advantages is that it is light but strong. Composite aircraft
are used in several components such as ailerons, elevators and electrical panels.
This study is focused on finding the optimization value of several variations used
by the Taguchi method.
The research method was carried out by grafting with the butt joint
method on the composite specimen. The parameters used are the type of adhesive
(epoxy; Polyester; Lycal), the thickness of the adhesive (0.5 mm; 0.75 mm; 1 mm)
and the type of filler (glass powder; wood powder; charcoal powder).
Furthermore, the composite material joints resulting from the connection process
with the butt joint method were tested by tensile testing. The analysis process uses
the Taguchi method, which is a new methodology in engineering that aims to
improve the quality of a product and natural processes while simultaneously
reducing costs and resources to a minimum.
The analysis stage was carried out using the two-way ANOVA method
and the results of the analysis were the factors that influenced the optimum tensile
test value were the type of adhesive and the less influential was the filler variation.
Then the combination and parameters have been determined to achieve the
optimum tensile test value
