Abstract :
Engine start system is one of the systems that exist in the engine,
functioning as a start engine. When the engine operation, this system is very
necessary reliability, if the system does not work, then the engine cannot be
operated. In addition, the engine is part of the aircraft used for its movement. To
improve its reliability, periodic monitoring, effective maintenance by means of
program reliability planning must be performed. Reliability programs are used to
control the reliability of an engine, system or component.
In analyzing the program reliability of engine starting system, there are
several research methods undertaken, namely FMEA method and weibull
distribution method. The FMEA method is used because the reliability program
analysis is performed based on failure, and to determine the failure mode that
occurs. The weibull distribution method is used to measure the reliability of the
components, determine the effectiveness of the treatment and can predict the age
of the compound. In this study, weibull distribution calculation using MINITAB
software.
By analyzing the program reliability of engine starting system, it can be
determined the value of ? (shape parameter) and RPN value. It can also
determine that the starter generator is the dominant problem part of the engine
starting system. From the calculation results obtained ? > 1 is ? = 3.88889,
failure mode that has the highest RPN value is the starter motor not working
caused by component damage (wear out) with the value of RPN 200. Based on the
calculation results, the starter generator component failure worn, preventive
maintenance is more effective to do with this failure. Spare parts should always be
available to support maintenance and to achieve optimal operation.
