Abstract :
Corrosion is material damage that is very dangerous to
aircraft because corrosion can reduce the material's capabilities. Study
This aims to determine the value of the corrosion rate from the results of the anodizing process and
inhibitors. One type of inhibitor used is LPS 3. LPS 3
is an inorganic inhibitor used to coat aircraft structures
which is made of metal. The materials used in this research are
material type AL 2024 T-4.
This research uses an anodizing process with sulfuric acid solution
at a current of 0.4 amperes. Variations in immersion time are 25 minutes, 30 minutes,
and 35 minutes. The method used to control corrosion is by
inhibitor spraying method and anodizing coating method.
In this research, the results obtained were the thickness of the oxide layer formed
from the anodizing process of 3.8 µm, 14.6 µm, and 29.8 µm. Results of this research
shows that the coating time affects the thickness of the oxide layer
formed. The corrosion rate value for raw material is 0.35 mdd, meanwhile
materials with anodizing and inhibitor spraying processes do not undergo
corrosion. From the results of this research, anodizing can increase durability
against corrosion so that the rate of corrosion can be inhibited.
