Abstract :
Engine overhaul is a process to restore engine performance due to the use of
flying hours. The performance in accordance with the overhaul time is determined by the
manufacturer. TBO standard for PT6A-114A engine is 3600 hours. TBO extension is an
effort made to extend the overhaul execution time interval which is contained in the SB
issued by the manufacturer. The engine that is TBO has been extended, and must have the
equal performance with the standars TBO engine. Therefore, specific fuel consumption
and specific powerbecome one of the important parameter in the implementation of the
TBO extension.
Engine performance analysis is performed to determine engine performance
before and after TBO extension implementation. The datas needed for analysis are taken
from AFL when the aircraft is flying at 4.500 ft- 13.500 ft with 1.000 ft altitude variance.
The calculation was done using mathcad and microsoft excel software.
The results of the calculation of the PT6A-114A performance engine before and
after TBO extensions tend to have little difference. The fuel/air ratio engine that is
carried out by the extension is smaller than the engine that is carried by TBO which is
equal to ? with an average specific thrust value of 211.65
lbf/(lbm/sec). The specific fuel consumption of the engine the TBO extension is lower at
0.234837 (lbm/hr)/lbf and the average specific power engine carried out by TBO
extensions is also higher than the engine carried by TBO is 40.76588 hp/(lbm sec). From
the results of the calculations that have been obtained, it can be said that the PT6A-114A
engine with PC1109 serial number as a whole, the performance parameters are much
higher when TBO extensions are compared to the standard TBO but for the value of
specific fuel consumption, TBO extension is much more high compared to standard TBO.
