Abstract :
The quantity of passenger and cargo movement from Surabaya to Kupang
is very large, while the number of airlines that operate also does not adequately
accommodate the needs of passenger and freight transportation, so these conditions
will cause stockpiling of goods and cargo. Researcher highlighted the two major
airlines in Indonesia, there are Garuda Indonesia and Lion Air where these airlines
had different quantity of flight load needs and flight services. Both airlines use two
different types of aircraft for the Surabaya-Kupang route, namely Boeing 737-800
NG for Garuda Indonesia and Boeing 737-900 ER for Lion Air.
The improved climb analysis refers to B737-800NG FPPM and B737-
900ER FPPM which are the benchmark in problem solving of additional aircraft
load capacity. The addition of the aircraft's loading capacity will be a solution to
prevent the cargo hoarding that occurs at Juanda Airport. The Maximum Brake
Release Weight determination which is limited by Field Length and Climb Segment
becomes the beginning of the Improved Climb calculation process then those two
values reduced for further analysis on Improved Climb chart. Analysis of the
Improved Climb chart was then obtained the Climb Weight Improvement value (kg)
as an additional aircraft load capacity.
The Climb Weight Improvement Value then added to the aircraft's allowed
load value as a result of the aircraft's load capacity after the improved climb. The
results show that the improved climb for B737-800NG with 1,900 kg wich is more
capable to increase the capacity than B737-900ER with 1,500 kg, where the need
for additional Garuda Indonesia loading capacity is less than Lion Air. Then the
application of improved climb for Garuda Indonesia?s B737-800NG is more
adequate than Lion Air's B737-900ER.
