Abstract :
The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of die casting temperature
to the tensile micro structure of the tensile testing and hardness testing from casting result of
the second hand used propeller. The materials were the second hand used aluminium
propeller. The materials were melted over the casting furnace and poured into a mold with
the temperature variations were 85° C, 110° C and 143° C with a temperature of pouring of
689° C. The result of casting then was made into the speciment of the micro structure testing,
composition testing, and tensile testing with result that the 85° C mold temperature variation
had the highest tensile strength of 18,82 Mpa and the 110°C mold temperature variation had
the lowest tensile strength of 10.92 Mpa. Vickers hardness testing with 110° C mold
temperature variation had the lowest hardness of 69,883 VHN. This was due to the slow
pouring and resulting in a decrease in temperature while at 143° C mold temperature
variation had the highest hardness of 74,463 VHN. This was caused by the high mold
temperature and high temperature pouring then the freezing rate was slower. These data
indicated that the changes temperature in the mold had significant effect on the tensile testing
and hardness testing of the recycled products.
