Abstract :
Hydroponic is a method of growing plants without soil instead of other media
such as grafel, cocopeat, perlit, sand, vermiculite, brick shards, wood fiber or foam
where they are given enough water and mineral salt. At NFT (Nutrient Film
Technique) Hydroponic system, the plant's root is allowed come in the direct contact
with the nutried solution circulated for 24 hours and has high impact for proper
growth.
This research aimed to design irrigating system at hydroponic on NFT type
using PVC pipe with 5 % slope to meet the needs of flow rate on plant. The flow rate
that required for 300 plants is 0,83 litre/minute = 1,388 x 10 -5 m3/s. On the design
there were 6 gutters with 50 plants on each of them. The flow rate must be filled for
every gutter was Q 2,314 x 10 -6 m3/s.
The research result was that the flow rate onto the plants was 8,366 x 10 -6 m3/s.
The head losses mayor from pump stream to the tank was 0,78 m, with the total head
losses minor was 0,0004 m, with the total head losses from pump stream to the tank
was 0,7804m, with the total head of 10,7804 m. The head losses mayor from pump
circulation generated was 0,034 m, with the total head losses minor was 0,00078 m
and total head losses from pump circulation generated the total head losses was
0,03478 m with the total head of 7,03478 m.
