Abstract :
This study aimed to identify the effect of re-casting on the micro
structure, hardness, and tensile strength of aluminum. The materials used were
waste used piston. The material was melted over a casting furnace and poured at
a temperature of 700?C using a heated metal mold with temperatures of 190?C,
220?C, 250?C. The casting results were then subjected to the tensile testing
specimens using the ASTM E8/E8M-09 standard for the tensile test and hardness
test specimens. Reprocessing was done three times with the same pouring
temperature but the different mold at each temperature of the mold were made
into five specimens. The conclusion of the test results that was the tensile strength
test data decreased at the temperature of 220?C mold due to the defects in the
casting process while the hardness data increased with increasing mold
temperature.
