Abstract :
Harmony Search (HS) is an optimization method that can be used to optimize a steel structure. The use of HS has been proven to provide good results in the field of optimization. Steel structures are often used in buildings such as warehouses and truss bridges. In this study, the UNESA Library building that uses the main structure of reinforced concrete will be planned to re-use the main structure of steel using a combination of HS and SAP2000 programs while still referring to SNI 1729-2015. After the profile configuration is obtained from the HS program, the results will be analyzed using the SAP2000 program to obtain the weight values, cross-sectional area, and structural deflection. This program will be created with the Visual Basic 6.0 programming language and assisted with supporting data. MDB (Microsoft Database). The optimization results show that the obtained structure is more rugged with a weight of 80.79 kN, 9.2 cm displacement. The minimum profile that can be used in columns is W14X398, W14X48, and WF 200x100x4,5x7. Whereas the beam is WF 200x100x4,5x7. From the optimization results it can be concluded that the incorporation of HS and SAP2000 programs can provide lighter structural results with optimum structural strength in accordance with SNI 1720-2015
