ABSTRACT ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY TEST OF EXTRACT AND N-HEXAN FRACTION, ETHYLE ACETATE FRACTION, WATER FRACTION FROM PAPAYA FRUIT SEEDS (Carica papaya L.) AGAINST Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 BY DIFFUSION AND DILUTION Baiq Mitasari This study aims to determine whether the ethanol extract and n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and water fraction of papaya fruit seeds (Carica papaya L.) have antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 using diffusion and dilution methods. Sampling of papaya seeds was carried out in the yard of a house in Purworejo, Central Java. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Product for Service Solutions) software using the One Way Anova (Analysis of Variance) test. The existence of a significant difference in the test was indicated by the p value kurang lebih 0.05. The concentrations used in this test are 1%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%. Positive controls used were ciprofloxacin and 1% DMSO as negative controls. The results of this study were 96% ethanol extract, n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water fractions from papaya fruit seeds (Carica papaya L.) had antibacterial activity against the growth of Escherichia coli ATCC 25922. Ethyl acetate fraction from ethanol extract of papaya seeds ( Carica papaya L.) is the most active fraction as an antibacterial against Escherichia coli ATCC 25922. The value of the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) is 25% and the value of the Minimum Kill Concentration (KBM) obtained is 25%.
