Abstract :
ABSTRACT FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF CHINESE KETEPENG LEAVES EXTRACT Ointment (Cassia alata L.) ON THE BASIS VASELIN ALBUM AND ALBA FLAVOR AGAINST MUSHROOM Candida albicans Tarsisius Kawarnidi The leaves of Chinese ketepeng (Cassia alata L.) are one of the medicinal plants that are often used by the community but the use of this plant is still traditional so it needs to be made in a more practical preparation, namely in the form of an ointment. The purpose of this study was to determine the physical properties of the ethanol extract of Chinese ketepeng leaves in ointment preparation. The extract of Chinese ketepeng leaves uses the maceration method with 70% ethanol as a solvent. Ointments were made with variations in the concentration of hydrocarbon bases and carried out physical tests, namely organoleptic test, homogeneity test, sticky data test, spreadability test, pH measurement, protective power test, viscosity test, stability test, antifungal activity test. The results showed that the preparation of the ethanol extract of the Chinese ketepeng leaf ointment at F1, F2, and F3 was brownish green, had a characteristic odor of Chinese ketepeng leaves and was solid. Homogeneity test F1, F2, and F3 have homogeneous preparations. The dispersion test on F1, F2, and F3 ointments obtained results of 6.65, 6.75 and 6.85, respectively. The adhesion test on the F1, F2 and F3 ointments obtained results of 46, 30 and 18 seconds, respectively. Measurement of pH in the ointments F1, F2 and F3 obtained results of 5.76, 5.14 and 5.01 respectively. Test of protective power on ointment F1, F2 and F3 obtained the same results, which is more than 5 minutes. Viscosity test on ointments F1, F2 and F3 obtained successive results of 15582, 21183 and 34573 Cp. The stability test on F1, F2 and F3 ointments showed that they had good stability. Tests of antifungal activity on ointments F1, F2 and F3 obtained successive results of 2, 1.5 and 1 cm.
