The tamarind herbal medicine consists of turmeric (Curcuma domestica)
and tamarind (Tamarindus indica). Turmeric contains active substances, one of
which is curcumin, which functions as an analgesic, antipyretic and anti-
inflammatory. The purpose of this study was to determine the curcumin levels in
tamarind herbal medicine in Palur Village.
This research method using TLC-Densitometry instrument. The sample
from producer of ?Jamu Gendong? turmeric acid of Palur Village. This research
used qualitative analysis, namely the TLC method and quantitative analysis using
the TLC-Densitometry method.
The results showed that the three samples of tamarind jamu turmeric had
a value of Rf = 0.51 and curcumin levels from the TLC-Densitometry method in
sample 1, sample 2 and sample 3 as 47,86 ppm, 18,00 ppm and 41,11 ppm. From
this study it can be concluded that the curcumin levels in each producer of
tamarind turmeric are not the same.
