Abstract :
Background : Non-hemorrhagic stroke is a focal neurological deficit that arises acutely and lasts more than 24 hours and is not caused by bleeding. Symptoms of a non-hemorrhagic stroke can result in weakness in the extremities which results in impaired physical mobility in the patient. One of them has an impact on the strength of the hand muscles which can interfere with daily activities due to the weakness experienced. One of the non-pharmacological measures and nursing interventions that can be used to increase hand muscle strength in patients with non-hemorrhagic strokes is the provision of therapy for holding a serrated rubber ball and a measuring instrument used using a handgrip dynamometer. Purpose: To determine the increase in hand muscle strength in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients before and after being given a jagged rubber ball gripping therapy with a handgrip dynamometer. Methods: This study used a qualitative research design with a case study method in patients who had non-hemorrhagic strokes, totaling 2 respondents in the inpatient room of the Meranti Pavilion and the outpatient neurologist at the Siti Fatimah Az-Zahra Hospital, South Sumatra Province. Results: After conducting the study for 3 days, there was an increase in before and after the therapy of gripping a jagged rubber ball, there was an increase in hand muscle strength in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients. Suggestion:Patients with non-hemorrhagic stroke can apply therapy to grip a jagged rubber ball to increase hand muscle strength.
