Abstract :
Background of the research: Chronic kidney disease is the decline in kidney function so that patients with chronic renal failure must undergo hemodialysis therapy to extend life expectancy. The hemodialysis process took 4 to 5 hours 2 to 3 times a week and the patient will feel fatigued. One of the non-pharmacological approaches used to reduce fatigue is the application of progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) techniques. The PMR technique aimed to help relieve muscle tension with tension release techniques. Purpose of the research: To analyze the application of the PMR technique to the level of fatigue in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Method of the research: This research used a descriptive method, with a case study design. The nursing process carried out for undergoing hemodialysis patients using the application of the PMR technique. PMR is given 15 to 20 minutes once a day and as many as 5 interventions according to the patient's hemodialysis schedule on Tuesday and Friday. Results of the research: The results showed that the application of PMR increase before and after being given the PMR intervention. It is known that the average difference fatigue score is 8 with a degree of severe fatigue to light fatigue. Suggestion: This application can be useful and motivate patients and families to independently apply progressive muscle relaxation techniques to reduce fatigue in patients undergoing hemodialysis.
