Abstract :
Background : Nutritional status is a condition that occurs as a result of a balance
between intake of nutrients from food and the need for nutrients needed for
metabolism in the body. Nutritional status can be measured using the BMI
assessment. If the value of nutritional status is not normal, there is a risk of
obesity and a source of various diseases. Nutritional status can be influenced by
gender, consumption of junk food and physical activity. Maintaining a diet by
reducing consumption of junk food and doing regular physical activity can
maintain the body to avoid various diseases.
Purpose : This study aims to identify the relationship between gender,
consumption of junk food and physical activity with nutritional status.
Methods : This study used an analytic survey design with a cross sectional
approach. There were 68 sample respondents using a purposive sampling
technique. Analysis of research data using the Mann Whitney and Kendall Tau
tests.
Result : The results showed that most of the sexes were women as many as 55
people (80.9%), frequent consumption of junk food 53 people (77.9%), moderate
physical activity 53 people (77.9%), normal nutritional status 44 people ( 64.7%),
there is a relationship between gender and nutritional status (p value = 0.039),
there is a relationship between consumption of junk food and nutritional status (p
value = 0.015) and there is a relationship between physical activity and
nutritional status (p value = 0.000 ).
Suggestion : Adolescents are more likely to improve good eating patterns by
reducing consumption of junk food, as well as regular physical activity to
maintain nutritional status within a normal range.
