Abstract :
St. Paul's Secondary Seminary Palembang has several classrooms used by seminarians. In each classroom has 2 AC units to support the comfort of seminarians, there are several problems from the AC control process such as controlling manually and having to enter each classroom which makes employees in the Seminary less comfortable in controlling the air conditioner. Controlling the two AC units in the classroom takes 17 seconds. The AC control process is carried out by entering each classroom, adjusting the temperature on the AC remote, then approaching the AC to facilitate control until the AC turns on and the other unit continues because in the classroom there are two AC units. After the teaching and learning activities end, the employees turn off the live air conditioner. Based on these problems, the design of AC control using IoT with value engineering methods was carried out in order to speed up the time of the AC control flow system, facilitate control, and make officers comfortable when operating. The tool is made of acrylic and there are various components such as Nodemcu Esp8266, DS18B20 temperature sensor, Obsracle IR Detection Sensor, VS1838B, BC547 Transistor, PCB, and 5V USB Charger Adapter. After making this control, implementation is carried out and results when controlling one AC unit takes 8 seconds. The results of observations and calculations regarding the use of AC energy measured using a Wattmeter are known that it takes 30.6 kWh or Rp 34,111 to turn on 2 AC units used in classrooms. After applying using this tool, it is known that it takes only 28.4 kWh at a cost of Rp 31,658 which means getting a savings of 2.2 kwh or Rp 2,452 with a percentage of 0.071%.
