Abstract :
The phenomenon of high intensity playing online games can be felt by anyone, especially students. This can make an impact on students' learning achievements because students are unable to control themselves in playing games so that it can have an impact on students' learning motivation. The aims of this study are: 1) To determine the relationship between self-control and learning motivation. 2) To find out the relationship between the intensity of playing online games with learning motivation. 3) To determine the relationship between self control and the intensity of playing online games with learning motivation. The sample in this study were students from SMP Xaverius 7 Palembang, totaling 75 students. The sample technique used is Purposive Sampling. Before testing the hypothesis, a classic assumption test is carried out which includes: normality test, linearity test, multicollinearity test. Testing the hypothesis using the product moment correlation on the relationship between self control and learning motivation obtains a significance value of 0.00 and a Pearson Correlation of 0.997. In the relationship between the intensity of playing online games and learning motivation, a significance value of 0.31 is obtained and the Pearson Correlation is -0.249. While testing the hypothesis with the F table test obtained significant results on the relationship between self control and the intensity of playing dame online with learning motivation of 3.12 and F count of 7349.283. While the test results of the coefficient of determination show the relationship in this study amounted to 77,8%.
