Abstract :
Background: Cataracts are one of the factors that cause blindness. The increasing prevalence of cataracts requires effective treatment. Postoperative care is one of the factors that influences the success of cataract surgery. One method that can be used is providing education to post-op cataract patients using booklets so that patients can understand and apply it at home. Purpose: Aims to determine differences in patient knowledge levels before and after being given education about post-cataract surgery care. Methods: This research uses a quantitative type of research using a One Group pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique used Accidental Sampling, the sample was 32 respondents. The data collection tool uses a questionnaire designed by researchers. Data analysis was univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test. Results: In univariate analysis, the average age of respondents was 59.81 years. The dominant respondents were female (62.5%). The majority of respondents had secondary education (53.1%). In the bivariate analysis, the value obtained was (p<0.001), so it could be concluded that there was a difference in pre and post after being given education with a booklet about post-cataract surgery care. Suggestion: It is hoped that patients undergoing cataract surgery can implement and apply post-op cataract treatment so that complications can be prevented.
