ABSTRACT
The purpose of the Research is to verify the effectiveness of using podcast to
enhance students? vocabulary mastery at private school in Palembang through
Podcast. Related to the preliminary study, students considered having minimum
vocabulary and only familiar with common words. Vocabulary mastery is one of
the important aspects to acquire English. Quasi experimental design was used on
this research and conducted for 16 meetings. The sample of the research was two
classes of tenth grade. X Mipa 2
nd (34 students) for the experimental group and
X Mipa 6
th (34 students) as control group, with the total of 68 students. The data
were collected through test and questionnaire. The vocabulary test was adapted
from vocabulary size test by Nation (2007). The questionnaire which used was
the students? satisfaction with educational podcast questionnaire (SSEPQ). The
main results of this research showed that using podcast to enhance students?
vocabulary mastery was effective.
