Abstract :
This study discusses the design of a wheelchair prototype to help the flexibility of sufferers. The design of the prototype was carried out with a 7-step nigel cross. The process begins with the classification of design objectives and establishing the design function. Then determine the characteristics to relate the wishes of the sufferer with the technical characteristics offered. Then alternative generation which provides 3 alternatives to flexy wheelchair design. Furthermore, evaluate alternatives, namely choosing one of the best alternatives. After weighting, the best alternative 1 is obtained. Alternative 1 has specifications, namely using aluminum material, dimensions of 1000mm (L), 620mm (W) and 910mm (H), transport wheelchair design, foldable wheelchair, semi-manual manufacturing method, wheelchair weight 12 kg and material strength 80 Kg. The results of testing the prototype using a roll machine and static load showed that the flexy wheelchair was able to withstand a load of 80 Kg and the components of the wheelchair were in good condition.
