Abstract :
ABSTRACT The use of smartphones online is part of learning, but not a few students experience symptoms of academic stress and smartphone addiction. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between academic stress and smartphone addiction in high school students during the online learning. This research is a quantitative research with data analysis using Pearson product moment correlation. The subjects in this study were high school students who use smartphones. The academic stress scale used in this study is a scale created by researchers based on the academic stress aspect of Sun, et al. (2011). The smartphone addiction scale used is the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS) belonging to Kwon, et al. (2013). The results showed that there was a correlation between academic stress and smartphone addiction with p=0,434 (p>0,05). The correlation between academic stress and smartphone addiction is positively correlated so that the higher the academic stress, the higher the smartphone addiction. In the study, it was found that there were differences in smartphone addiction in high school students who used smartphones for more than 8 hours with high school students who used smartphones for less than 8 hours. So that the duration of the smartphone is more than 8 hours increasing the risk of high school students experiencing smartphone addiction.
