Abstract :
Background: There are three stages of laboratory examination, namely pre-analytic, analytical, and post-analytic. The pre-analytic stage of patient preparation is one of the factors that can affect glucose levels. Normal and healthy people when given food intake blood glucose levels will increase and reach peak levels within one hour and return to levels before receiving food (normal) after 2-3 hours. Objective: To know the results of the examination of fasting blood glucose levels for 4 hours and 10 hours with a chemistry autoanalyzer. Methods: This research is an analytic observational study using a cross-sectional approach using a total sampling technique. The research subject used is the Medical Laboratory Technology Study Program which includes 40 people with inclusion criteria whose body mass index (BMI) does not exceed the normal limit of 25.0 kg/m2. Results: The results showed that the fasting blood glucose level for 4 hours for the average result was 88.38 mg/dL and the distribution of SD data was 5.98. The average fasting blood glucose level for 10 hours was 87.66 mg/dL and the distribution of SD data was 6.81. There was no difference in the understanding of fasting blood glucose levels for 4 hours and fasting blood glucose levels for 10 hours, with a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.724 > 0.05. Conclusion: Based on the research, it said that there is no significant difference in fasting blood glucose levels for 4 hours and 10 hours with a chemistry autoanalyzer. Suggestion: For glucose examination, preparation for blood glucose should be really consistent in undergoing fasting so that the examination can really explain the condition of blood sugar.
