Abstract :
Background : Smoking is one of the unresolved health problems. Cigarettes
contain addictive substances that can have harmful effects on the body. Cigarettes
can also cause addiction and dependence to smokers. The use of cigarettes kills
more than 8 million people annually and the second largest cause of death in
Indonesia. The factors that affect a person to smoke include smoking's knowledge,
attitude and behavior.
Objective : The purpose of research is to learn about the knowledge, attitude and
behavior of smokers in adult men.
Method : This study uses a quantitative research design with a descriptive survey
approach. The sample in this study consisted of 67 adult male respondents aged
26?45 with Purposive sampling techniques. The analysis of data in this study was
univariate to look at the distribution of age, education, knowledge, attitudes and
behavior of smokers.
Result : From the results of univariate analysis, the majority of respondents were
of early adulthood (67.2%), the majority of last-year high school/equal education
(67.2%), the majority of respondents' knowledge was sufficient (44.8%), the
majority of respondents' attitudes were moderate (76.1%) and the majority of
respondents' behavior was moderate (49.3%).
Suggestion : For respondents of the research results it is expected to be input and
evaluation to increase awareness of the level of knowledge, better attitude and
reduce smoking behavior. This study can be used as a consideration material for
further and more in-depth research using qualitative methods related to smokers'
knowledge, attitudes and behavior..
