Abstract :
Social interaction is very important for the dynamics of life. The limited communication skills as experienced by persons with hearing impaired adolescents can cause problems in social interaction. Persons with hearing impaired adolescents is also expected to receive themselves and develop social relationships, but a teenager is often excessive in assessing himself. Excessive negative thoughts about yourself which impact on the rejection of the state itself will add to the feeling less comfortable in social interaction. This study aims to determine whether there is any relationship between self-acceptance by the anxiety of social interaction in young deaf persons. This correlational study involving two variables, namely self-acceptance and social interaction anxiety. Self-acceptance is the attitude and outlook that basically satisfied with the situation themselves, good physical condition, intelligence, self limitations, feelings and personality self. While the social interaction anxiety is an anxiety reaction to physical, behavioral, and thoughts that occur in social interaction. The population of this research is deaf persons, who are in SMPLB and Education Foundation SMALB Tunas Bangsa School Extraordinary-part B with a total population of 31 subjects. The sampling technique used is the total sample techniques and instruments in this study using the scale for expressing self-acceptance and social interaction anxiety. Analysis of data used product moment analysis. From the data analysis found a highly significant relationship exists between self-acceptance by the anxiety of social interaction. It can be seen on the value (r) =- 0.715, effective contribution of research by 51.2% and (p) = 0,000. This means that the higher the self-acceptance in young persons with hearing disability, the lower the social interaction anxiety. Conversely, the lower the self-acceptance in young persons with hearing disability, the higher the social interaction anxiety.
