Abstract :
Research on the use of forms of greeting in rural communities the Madurese language Pangarangan Sumenep Madura district is focused on describing the preference used in the Sumenep, greeting word used especially in rural communities Pangarangan. This study aimed to describe the form and function of the use of the preference by villagers Pangarangan Sumenep Madura. This research is expected to provide benefits, among others, for the people of Madura, the results of this research are to be used as additional knowledge or input to assess the forms of greeting are correct and in accordance with its existence, so as to improve the quality berbahasanya. For faculty / Indonesian teacher, the results of this research are to be used as teaching and learning materials especially for local content learning the local language, particularly with respect to the preference contained in the Madurese community. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. Data collection was done by (1) observation, (2) recording technique, and (3) technical note. The data processed by data processing procedures are (1) sorting the data, (2) checking the data, (3) coding, and (4) data analysis. Further described in the form of descriptive reports. Based on the limitations of the data source, the source data used in this research is Pangarangan village community. This research data in the form of all forms of greeting Madurese language used by the village community Pangarangan, which is processed from a statement or sentence spoken by the villagers Pangarangan. The results of this study, among others, said the greeting used by women to address female participants were: Ebok [әbok], Emmak [Әmmá '], Ummi [Umm], Nyanyah [pus], Emba [mba], Nyai [cal], Alek [alә '], Ma'am [Әmba'], Adek [ádә '], son [Ana'], Bekna [bӘ'na], Cebbing [cәbing]. The function used is the preference for familiarity, respect, anger expression, and harassment. While greeting word used by men to greet male participants were: Eppak [Әppá '], Mr. [Father'], brother [kaka '], Gold [Әmas], Aba [aba], Anom [Anom], Friendly [friendly], Kacong [Kacong], Gold [Әmas]. As for the preference function that is used is to build familiarity, respect, and kinship.
