Abstract :
The objective of this study was to compare yield ability of two lines in contrast with three already-released varieties. The study is conducted in Banjarsari Wetan village, Dagangan district at Madiun municipiality from March 10 to June 16, 2010. Materials which are used in this study is 2 cowpea lines which are produced by CV Muara Tirtamas and 3 cowpea varieties, that are Hijau Super which is produced by PT. BISI, Putih Super by PT. BISI dan 777 by PT. East Weed Seed Inc, as the controls. Parameters that are measured are flowering earliest day, harvest earliest day, harvest lateliest day, number of pods per branches, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pods, weight of pods per plant, weight of 1000 seeds, length of pods and diameter of pods. Data is analyzed by the F test level 5% and 1% and Duncan multiple range test at 5% level. Results showed significant differences between varieties/lines in number of pods per branches, number of seeds per pods, weight of pods per plant, weight of 1000 seeds, and diameter of pods. But there are not significant differences in flowering earliest day, harvest earliest day, harvest latest day, number of pods per plant, and length of pods.
