Abstract :
This study aimed at analyzing code switching used by the presenter of “Gaul Bareng Bule†on Trans TV. It focused to answer these two following research problems: 1) What kinds of code switching are used by the presenter of “Gaul Bareng Bule†entertainment program on Trans TV? 2) What is the most dominant code switching used by the presenter of “Gaul Bareng Bule†entertainment program on Trans TV? The research design used in this study was descriptive qualitative. Here, the writer used research subject because she did not want to generalize the result of the research language that was used in other programs. Furthermore, the instruments were used was observation and documentation as the material analysis. It was also completed with digital camera and mobile phone as the tool to collect the data. After analyzing the data, the writer found that there were 131 switched codes and three kinds of code switching that were used by the presenter. First, Intra-sentential code switching was 64 times appeared that occurred within a sentence. Second, Tag code switching that occurred with inserting short expressions. Those were 43 times. The last was Inter-sentential code switching, the switch that occurred between sentences, those were 24 times. Here, the most dominant code switching was Intra-sentential code switching because it had the highest frequency that used by the presenter.
