Abstract :
Background: Marigold flower ethanol extract contains good antioxidants in counteracting free radicals with IC50 intensity value of 57.77 μg / mL. The peel off mask preparation were made because it is practical easy to use when it is dry without wash it again. Objective: To determine the impact of Marigold flower extract at concentration of 0.5%, 1%, 2% with PVA (Polyvinyl Acetate) and PEG 6000 (Polyethylene Glycol 6000) base on its physical, chemical characteristics (organoleptis, homogeneity , pH, viscosity, dispersion) and stability of the peel off gel mask preparation. Method: The formulation of the peel of mask contained Marigold flower extract was prepared in 3 formulas with different extract levels; Formula I (0.5%), Formula II (1%) and Formula III (2%). The evaluation method by physical and chemical testing (organoleptis, homogeneity , viscosity, dispersion, drying time) and stability test and freez thaw test. Results and Conclusions: The organoleptic peel off resulted a brownish yellow color (honey), typical aromatic odor and soft texture. The homogeneity of the three formulas showed homogeneous results. The results of the viscosity test of Formula I, II and III (22,067 CPs - 30,600 CPs). The dissolved power test of Formula I was 0.01 g / cm, Formula II was 0.01 g / cm, and Formula III was 0.01 g / cm. Drying time of Formula I, II and III (33 minutes - 38 minutes). The pH test of Formula I, II and III (6.15 - 6.25). One-Way Anova statistical analysis resulted no significant degree of difference. The stability test and freez thaw test the preparation are stable and do not phase separation. For the pH results on the stability test and freez thaw are according to SNI (Indonesian National Standard).
