Abstract :
The use of Facebook cause psychosocial problems, such as the loss of verbal and non-verbal abilities in students. These various problems indicate a low level of social skills because low of self control. Therefore students need to have high self control in order to be able to organize their activities when they are on Facebook. This study is to knowing the relationship of self control and intensity of use of Facebook to social skills in students. The data collection is by purposive sampling. The subjects in this study is 270. The research instruments used the self-control scale, the social skill scale, and the intensity of the use of Facebook. Data analysis uses non-parametric correlation test and multiple regression. The results of this study indicate that there was a significant positive relationship between self control and social skills where the value of p = 0.345 (p > 0.005), and the intensity of facebook use was not significantly related to social skills with a value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.005) . This shows hypothesis is accepted, where the higher the self control, the higher the social skills. The level of contribution of self control to social skills is (r2 = 0.079, 7.9%).
