Abstract :
Clipping process is one of word formation that produces new terms or new words and also found in nicknames such as in Mbojo nicknames. This research aims to find out about the clipping process and the kinds of the clipping process found in Mbojo nicknames. The research used the qualitative approach, and the research instruments used that were document analysis and interview. For document analysis, the data were taken from family cards (KK). The interview, the researcher interviewed the native of Dompu regency to find out the clipping process in Mbojo nicknames. The result of the study showed that the clipping process found in Mbojo nicknames were in the beginning of the names, in the end of the names, in the beginning + end of the names, in the middle + end of the names, and in the beginning + middle + end of the names. Futhermore, the researcher only found 5 from 7 kinds of clipping process. Therefore, the researcher can conclude that the kinds of clipping process in Mbojo nicknames in this research are categorized into 5: 1) fore-clipping, 2) back-clipping, 3) fore-clipping + back-clipping, 4) median-clipping + back-clipping, and 5) fore-clipping + median-clipping + back-clipping.
